About Us.

Leslie Park has been running since August 2005 and was set up to support younger aged adults (18-35 years) with learning disabilities in accessing leisure activities in the community. There are currently 27 attending Leslie Park, on between one and four days per week, and we can support up to 12 people each day.

Our members take part in specific scheduled activities which they have chosen, and there is also an element of free time spent either on-site developing computer and office skills, playing games, karaoke, etc, or going on local outings to the shops, pub or park.

Scheduled activities include dance classes, gardening, bowling, art & craft, music lessons, keep fit, tennis lessons, drama and cookery. Many of these are led by qualified tutors in addition to the regular support staff, or are community based activities working in partnership with local schools, other day service providers and the London Borough of Croydon.

We also focus on everyday living skills where a need is identified. For example, we ran a dental hygiene programme, and have also worked in partnership with the Metropolitan Police in designing a Personal Safety programme looking at issues of travel and “stranger danger”.

To attend Leslie Park, people need to be referred through their Care Manager, but if you would like further information about the centre, phone Alice Evans our Co-ordinator – 020 8662 9201.
